About

Who Am I?

My name is Sean H. Steimer.  I’m a native of the Pittsburgh region, I grew up loving Pittsburgh sports and I spent way too much time in my youth following what the Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers did on a daily basis.

What is Bucco Fever?

Bucco Fever is a condition affecting fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Symptoms include delirium, fever and a general condition of too much optimism for a  team that has continually disappointed for 17 years.  Bucco Fever is also my blog that I began writing in May of 2009 as an outlet for myself to write about a subject I care deeply about, the Pittsburgh Pirates.  I write, or at least I try to write, from the perspective of an “informed fan” meaning that I try not to get too bogged down in crazy statistics, but that I also understand what numbers such as OPS, FIP, WAR and wOBA mean and will use them to evaluate the team and its’ players as necessary.

I don’t do game recaps (At least not of every game) because I don’t see the point in doing so when you can get those from espn, the post-gazette, and other outlets.  There are other Pirates blogs that do such recaps, and there is nothing wrong with that per se, it’s just not my personal style.  I’m much more likely to write longer, more in depth, posts once a week, than to write shorter posts on a daily basis.

In addition to the Pirates, I will also occasionally write about various other subjects that are related, even if only tangentially so, to the Pirates such as fantasy sports, other Pittsburgh sports teams, etc.

How can I be contacted?

I can be reached via email at sean [at] buccofever [dot] com.  You can also follow me on twitter @shsteimer.
